Businesses Surviving “Corona Season” | Your Budget for Visual Storytelling Should Include more Photography!

Photography for businesses during this crazy “Corona Season” (as my 9-year old refers to it) is essential for economic survival! The demand for visual storytelling is very much a need more than ever right now. Every business should have a strong visual presence showing the world their business in light of COVID. With Facemasks, regulations, and mandates changing every few weeks, it’s all better told with images.

Here in Southern Oregon, we live in a beautiful bubble. We were hit with the official quarantine time in the spring, but since mid-May things have become more and more functional. People need their jobs, they need business and cash flow to continue.

In April 2020, during the full swing COVID Quarantine, our local Central Point Chamber of Commerce, and I decide to do a small storytelling project for any and all local businesses (chamber member or not). Coach, Connector and Author, Ginger Johnson brought along this signage, “Keep #Connecting!” — I love her energy and optimism!

Being able to show your community that while this does suck, you’ve got this! You are able to provide a happy, friendly, and safe form of doing business. Utilizing photography to show your real selves amidst the online chaos can speak volumes to your supporters.

Our scenic location hosts a number of popular, tourist-laden events each spring for which many local businesses were prepping for when quarantine hit. This added a completely different layer to the difficulties that the pandemic brought. Businesses that host these annual events suffered from huge perishable pre-orders that had to be sold quickly. For example, our annual Cheese Festival put on by the world-famous, Rogue Creamery, was canceled. This long-time annual event alone houses thousands coming to sample local wine and cheese… not to mention the vendors who also attend.

Show your customers and clients that you are taking the social distancing measures seriously. Show them that they are safe coming into your place of business. Show them that you are still there, still the happy crew they always knew! Show them with great photography!!

Photography can be done pretty easily with distancing and a facemask!
